Job role

The CCTV Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining the company’s video surveillance infrastructure across datacenters, branch offices, field sites, and remote operational environments. This role ensures continuous, secure, and high-quality surveillance coverage that supports operational safety, physical security, and business continuity objectives.

Detailed description of MAIN tasks and KEY responsibilities

  • Design and implement CCTV solutions, including IP camera placement, network connectivity, and NVR storage architecture.
  • Install, configure, and maintain CCTV cameras, NVRs, video management software (VMS), and related infrastructure.
  • Conduct site surveys and create technical layouts for camera positioning, coverage optimization, and cabling routes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of CCTV systems with existing IT infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and monitoring platforms.
  • Implement secure remote access, live monitoring, and video retrieval solutions for local and remote teams.
  • Manage storage retention policies and optimize NVR capacity for continuous recording and archival.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and system health checks.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, or network-related issues affecting video performance and reliability.
  • Support advanced deployments such as GPS-enabled cameras, remote surveillance units, and mobile monitoring solutions.
  • Document all deployments, configurations, and changes, and maintain an accurate inventory of devices.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and operations teams to ensure CCTV solutions align with organizational standards and compliance requirements.

Education & Work Experience (Preferred background)

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electronics, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in CCTV system deployment, maintenance, and support in enterprise or industrial environments.
  • Experience with IP-based camera systems, NVR/VMS solutions, and network-based surveillance architectures.
  • Previous exposure to large-scale CCTV projects or multi-site deployments is highly desirable.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and managing IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, PoE, VLANs, remote access) as they relate to CCTV.
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Knowledge of data retention policies, video compression standards, and storage optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with remote viewing solutions, mobile surveillance, and integration with access control systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, site layouts, and cable schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, time-management, and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to system reliability and uptime.

Job requirements

  • Capable of conducting fieldwork including site surveys, physical installations, and system testing.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites and support field surveillance deployments.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours during maintenance windows or incident responses.
  • Commitment to following security best practices and company policies related to video storage and access.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and performance targets.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with IT, security, and operations teams.
