Job role

To support the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system by monitoring operational activities, identifying and controlling workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and applicable legal requirements, promoting safe working practices, and providing timely HSE support, reporting, and guidance to employees and operational teams.

Detailed description of MAIN tasks and KEY responsibility

1)    HSE Inspection, Hazard Identification & Compliance

 

  • Conduct planned and unplanned HSE inspections across iQ offices, FTTX/OSP/NS field activities, warehouses, shelters, data centres, workshops, and operational locations. 
  • Inspect PPE, ladders, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, workplaces, fleet, generators, diesel tanks, electrical systems, and other safety-critical equipment. 
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental hazards, recommend corrective actions, and escalate high-risk issues immediately. 
  • Monitor compliance with iQ Networks HSE policies, procedures, legal requirements, and approved safe work practices. 

 

 

2)     Field Operations & Workplace Safety 

 

  • Monitor technicians and operational teams during excavation, maintenance, installation, and other field activities. 
  • Ensure appropriate PPE, safe working methods, traffic controls, working-at-height controls, electrical safety, and excavation/manhole requirements are followed. 
  • Monitor workplace housekeeping, storage, access/egress, ergonomics, emergency arrangements, and general working conditions. 
  • Intervene and escalate where activities present significant or immediate HSE risks. 

 

 

3)      Training, Awareness & Safety Culture

 

  • Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT), HSE inductions, safety awareness sessions, and Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) observations. 
  • Deliver and support training on electrical safety, fire safety, working at height, defensive driving, heat stress, ergonomics, slips/trips/falls, environmental protection, and other relevant topics. 
  • Promote safe behaviour and proactively communicate hazards, lessons learned, and HSE requirements to employees and technicians. 

 

 

4)      Incident, Emergency & Corrective Action Management

 

  • Report and support the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and violations.
  • Collect evidence, photographs, statements, and relevant information and support identification of root and contributing causes. 
  • Monitor fire safety, first aid, emergency preparedness, drills, and emergency equipment. 
  • Track corrective and preventive actions, verify completion, and escalate overdue or repeated findings. 

 

 

5)    HSE Data, Documentation & KPI Reporting

 

  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, checklists, photographs, training records, incident records, PPE records, and other HSE documentation. 
  • Ensure HSE evidence is properly uploaded and maintained in the designated HSE systems and document libraries. 
  • Collect, verify, and report HSE KPI data and support monthly reports, dashboards, audits, and management reviews. 
  • Monitor assigned KPI performance against targets and identify areas requiring improvement.

 

 

6)     Environmental, Contractor & Departmental Support 

 

  • Monitor environmental controls including diesel storage, generators, waste management, spill prevention, housekeeping, and environmental compliance. 
  • Monitor contractors and third parties to ensure compliance with iQ Networks HSE requirements. 
  • Coordinate with FTTX, Network Service, DBM, Fleet, Warehouse & Logistics, HR/Admin, Security, and other departments on HSE matters. 
  • Support the HSE Manager in audits, investigations, inspections, improvement initiatives, legal compliance, and the continuous improvement of the company HSE management system.
     

Education and Work Experience (Preferred background)

  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE, Engineering, or related field. 
  • 1-2 years of HSE experience, preferably in telecom, construction, infrastructure, or field operations. 
  • Experience in HSE inspections, risk assessment, incident investigation, PPE, training, and safety reporting. 
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, Iraqi HSE requirements, and workplace safety standards. 
  • HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, First Aid, or ISO 45001 are preferred. 
  • Good communication, reporting, documentation, and Microsoft Office skills.

  • TBT, induction, and safety training skills. 
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. 
  • Good Microsoft Office and data management skills.
