Job role
The OSP Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure for fiber optic communication Networks.
Detailed description of MAIN tasks and KEY responsibilities
- Oversee the installation of fiber optic cables, including underground and aerial deployments.
- Conduct field surveys, data collection, and site assessments for the suitability of locations for OSP network construction projects.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of OSP infrastructure to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Have an in-depth understanding of outside plant facilities such as cable sizing, cable counts, and cable records.
- Develop detailed Outside Plant designs for fiber optic Network deployments, including route selection, cable placement, ducting, and splice point locations.
Education and Work Experience (Preferred background)
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture engineering, communication engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in OSP Network implementation and on-site supervision.
Skills/Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
- Solid understanding of fiber optic principles, cable types, and transmission systems.
- Proficient in fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing equipment.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS tools, including Google Earth.
